About Isan Bellevue

Vision

To honor Bellevue's Japanese American heritage through a permanent, publicly accessible, and emotionally impactful commemoration that educates, engages, and unifies the community.

Mission

  • Increase knowledge and understanding of the agricultural history and contributions of Japanese Americans in East King County.

  • Share the impact that racism and incarceration had on the once-thriving community.

  • Engage current and future Bellevue residents with local history.

To achieve this mission, Isan Bellevue will

  • Partner and collaborate with local governments, civic associations, nonprofits, corporations, and individuals.

  • Create inviting and educational public spaces for reflection and reconciliation, with a central hub located in the city of Bellevue.

  • Host openings or gatherings intended to celebrate or commemorate important events, such as openings of public art installations or historically relevant dates.
